Book a day or two of personal tuition with Dave Butcher to gain practical experience of the main tools and controls that are of use for creating black and white photographs digitally.
Maybe you are a darkroom printer and have decided that now is the time to make the switch to digital? Learning Photoshop with an expert darkroom printer who is also a specialist in editing black and white digitally may be the sure way to make the transition.
There are 3 systems to choose from:
- iMac 27 inch system with Photoshop CS5 and a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet
- Macbook Pro 17 inch laptop with Lightroom 4 and a touchpad
- Dell Windows Vista PC with Photoshop CS3 and a trackball
All are powerful machines.
Choose whichever is closest to your system or the one which you would like to move to or check out, or use both for comparison.
Harman Photo inkjet paper will be used throughout for any printing.
A digital workflow will also be provided and worked through from image conversion to final print.
We can also cover monitor calibration with a Spyder 3 Pro system.
Adobe Bridge (provided within full Photoshop, a bit like Windows Explorer for pictures, but much more) will also be used as part of a demonstration of workflow.
Scanning black and white negatives can also be covered as required, using a Nikon Coolscan 9000ED and Vuescan software.
The cost is £300 for 1 day and £500 for 2 days, on dates to suit you. Location of all courses is the Briarwood Gallery here in Tunstead Milton in Derbyshire.
