High Peak Artists' and Craft Workers' Association
This is a purpose built new exhibition space in the main Pavilion Gardens building for the 39 members of High Peak Artists Association and is provided by High Peak Borough Council. It is adjacent to the new Tourist Information Centre and shop. It is a replacement for the Pump Room exhibition, which ran for about 12 years in Buxton Crescent. There are framed and unframed black and white photographs by Dave Butcher, big and small, as well as posters for sale. The Gallery is open every day of the year except Christmas Day. If you would like to come and meet me or have a chat I include the days when I will be on duty in the Gallery (roughly three times a month) in my Events calendar. For those of you that knew the Pump Room in Buxton, it is being redeveloped as part of the Crescent Spa Hotel project and will be the first part to be renovated and converted into a tea room. Exhibition Stand PhotosThe Storey Centre, Lancaster, 2011This was a solo exhibition that ran for about 10 weeks in the Thomas Storey Room.
Surtex Licensing Trade Fair, New York 2011This was the third time that we had our own stand at Surtex. It is a show for licensing images for printing onto surfaces and textiles. Since it was in Manhattan in New York and is very specifically for image licensing there was no need for picture frames and stand furniture like print browsers. Jan did the show on her own to save on costs and most of the prints on display were unmounted to save on weight and bulk such that everything would fit in a large suitcase and meet airline weight limits. We had a mixture of International Graphics Walmsley GmbH posters (4 big ones at 1 metre x 0.5 metres, all of New York), 5 hand prints and over 30 Silver Prints (printed by Ilford Lab Direct from scans of my negatives). The picture here gives you an idea of what was on display. Jan also had a few copies of each of my 3 books and 4 portfolio books of black and white photographs, arranged by subject. Lots of interest. Lots of leads to chase. |
Spring Fair Trade Show, Birminham NEC, 2011The Spring Fair is the largest trade show for the gift industry in the UK, held in early February every year. In 2011 we had a stand for the first time and exhibited our range of silver gelatine prints for retail and image licensing.

Surtex Licensing Trade Fair, New York 2008In 2008, this was our second time that we had our own stand at Surtex, a show for licensing images for printing onto surfaces and textiles. A different sort of display to the retail shows that we do in the UK. Lots of our existing licensing products on display as well as others to show the wide range of black and white photographs available.

Dave Butcher Photography at BBC Good Homes NEC 2007We have done a few big retail shows at the NEC. BBC Good Homes was combined with BBC Good Food and BBC Gardeners World to make a very large show. This is our stand. As you can see it has a huge range of photographs on sale, as well as books and photography courses. I hate the pink carpet and facia panels!

Surtex Licensing Trade Fair, New York 2007This was a new departure for us, our first trade show and our first show outside the UK. The show was Surtex, a show for licensing images for printing onto surfaces and textiles. I joined the UKTI Passport to Export scheme and received quite a bit of grant money to encourage us to do a trade show overseas and this was the one we decided to do. Without this support we would not have done it as the cost was considerable. Jan did the show on her own to save money and took everything for the stand over with her in a large suitcase. The photograph of Jan and the stand was kindly taken by a neighbouring exhibitor, Cindy Evert
Dave Butcher Gallery for a Weekend - Peak Village Rowsley 2007A typical display at Peak Village Rowsley. In 2007 and 2008 we took a retail unit for the weekend and set up a 'Gallery for a Weekend'. Lots of framed and mounted black and white photos as well as books and courses.
