The links here are mostly those that Dave Butcher has found useful in the past. They are also biased towards the equipment that he uses, the places travelled to and other information sources, some that relate to his background and others that have not always been easy to find.   • Ilford Photo - the best black and white film, paper and chemistry in the world!

  • Ilford Lab Direct - processing film, making prints from negatives and digital files, all prints on Ilford RC silver-gelatine paper. Excellent quality. They process a lot of my films and make prints up to 48 inches square for me, larger than I can print.

  • Ilford Chronology - lists dates of product introductions and major Ilford events

  • Harman Photo - Inkjet materials, from the same company that owns Ilford Photo, sharing the same factory

  • Harman Technology Ltd - parent company of Ilford Photo and Harman Photo

  • PIC Coppice - For full details of photographic chemistry waste disposal in the UK look at this document. It was produced by the UK Photographic industry (manufacturers of film, paper and chemicals, processing labs and photography groups) in conjunction with the UK water treatment industry. It dates back to the late 1990's. I chaired the group that pulled it together and wrote some of the detail. PIC is the Photo Imaging Council, COPPICE stands for Code of Practice for the Photoprocessing Industry for the Care of the Environment.

  • Craft and Design Experience - A large art and designer craft show in June near Henley-on-Thames

  • Craft in Focus - Art and designer craft shows in the south east of England

  • Design Factory - I am a Designer/Maker with this organisation for the creative industry in the East Midlands

  • Focus on Imaging - The biggest annual photography and imaging show in Europe. I either have my own stand or can be found on the Ilford part of the Harman Technology stand. Opens first Sunday in March for 4 days.

  • Great Dome Art Fair - A top quality show on the last weekend of the Buxton Opera Festival in July in the Buxton Devonshire Dome for members of Peak District Products

  • Gallery in the Gardens - Home of the High Peak Artists in The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton - A permanent display of Dave Butcher photographs. You can also meet me roughly 2 days a month here (see events calendar for dates). Open every day except Christmas Day, free entry.

  • High Peak Artists - Permanent gallery in Buxton Pavilion Gardens, called Gallery in the Gardens, open every day except Christmas day, free entry.

  • International Craft and Hobby Fairs - We are doing fairs at Stonor Park near Henley on Thames on August Bank Holiday and a Christmas fair at the NEC in Birmingham in November.

  • Ideal Home Show Christmas - Earls Court, London in November

Course Accommodation, Travel, Holidays

  • Trekking in the Alps - Hilary Sharp, Alpine leader based in Vallorcine in the Chamonix valley; snowshoe and trekking trips in the Alps. Using a guide like Hilary (married to Jon de Montjoye) lets me spend time taking photographs instead of worrying about route finding, booking huts, local transport, etc. Highly recommended.

  • Jon de Montjoye - One of the best alpine mountain guides, based in Vallorcine in the Chamonix valley. Jon was my guide for most of my ski mountaineering trips and is very tolerant of photographers and their needs! Highly recommended.

Peak District Courses Accommodation near Tunstead Milton

  • Corbar Bank - 4 star bed and breakfast apartment, about 7 miles away on the edge of Buxton

  • El Nido - a holiday cottage between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Whaley Bridge. The closest accommodation to Briarwood, about 200m.

  • Forest Lodge - Bed & breakfast in Chapel-en-le-Frith (2 miles)

  • Harrop Fold Farm - Bed and breakfast 5 miles away on the road from Whaley Bridge to Macclesfield (online booking).

  • High Croft Guest House - A top quality Guest House with fantastic views between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Whaley Bridge, just 100 yards from the Hanging Gate pub restaurant (0.5 miles, online booking)

  • Kinrara - Bed & breakfast in Whaley Bridge (2 miles)

  • Moorside Grange Hotel - Best Western hotel on the moors between Disley and Whaley Bridge (5 miles, online booking)

  • Old Hall Inn - An excellent inn in the village of Whitehough about 3 miles away (or 2 miles walking over Eccles Pike! Online booking).

  • Roebuck - A pub that does b&b on the market place in Chapel-en-le-Frith (2 miles)

  • Rushop Hall - Bed & breakfast and self-catering about 4 miles away, just east of Chapel-en-le-Frith, online booking)

  • Shady Oak - A pub that does b&b in Fernilee, 2 miles from Whaley Bridge on the A5004 Buxton road

  • Spire House - Bed & breakfast in Whaley Bridge, 5 minute walk to the station (2 miles)

  • Springbank - Bed & breakfast in Whaley Bridge, 2 minute walk to the station (2 miles, online booking)
