High Peak Artists
This is an association of artists and craft workers living in and around the High Peak area of the Peak District, centred on Buxton. I am a member and committee secretary, and it’s run as an artists co-operative with 45 members/exhibitors. We are based in Buxton in Derbyshire and have our own permanent exhibition space as Gallery in the Gardens in Buxton Pavilion Gardens. My wife Jan Butcher is also a member, displaying her colour photographs, and is Treasurer of the group.
Gallery in the Gardens, Pavilion Gardens, Buxton.
This is a purpose built commercial gallery exhibition space in the main Pavilion Gardens building for the 45 members of High Peak Artists. We run the gallery ourselves and pay rent and commission on sales to Parkwood Leisure Ltd, who manage the building on behalf of the local council. Lots of gifts from just £5 to fine art costing a few thousand pounds.
There are framed and unframed black and white photographs by Dave Butcher, big and small, for sale with a strong bias to Buxton and the Peak District. The Gallery is open every day except January and Christmas Day, opening times vary so it’s best to check. If you would like to come and meet me or have a chat I include the days when I will be running the Gallery (roughly twice a month) in my Events calendar.
