Dave Butcher Photography is a UK based company and complies with UK consumer law including the Distance Selling Regulations. Distance Selling Regulations give you the right to cancel an order and return any goods that may already have been dispatched up to 7 days from receipt. Furthermore, we want you to be happy with the photograph that you have purchased. If you change your mind, for whatever reason, and want your money back we will give you a full refund or a different print, whatever you choose. All that we ask is that you return the print in the original packaging and in the original pristine condition; we will also refund the return postage so that there is no cost to you.
Orders placed and payments made to Dave Butcher Photography, by means of cash, cheque, debit / credit cards or any other payment system, are deemed to be acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Dave Butcher Photography accepts most major credit cards (including American Express) for online orders. When you click the button ‘Send Secure Order’ you will be transferred from www.davebutcher.co.uk to the secure payment system of PayPal. If you have an account with PayPal you will be asked to sign in and authorise the payment. Alternatively, if you do not have a PayPal account you will be asked to enter your card details and the name and the address of the card holder when you place the order. These details will be checked by PayPal and we may hold an order until PayPal confirm that they have received the correct details. You will be contacted if we find the card or address details to be incorrect.
There is also a PayPal QR code on the Cart page (click the shopping cart icon at the top right of any page on the website). This can be used for payments for special purchases that do not go through the normal shopping cart system but you must have a PayPal account to use it. Use a QR scanner app, or the camera on your mobile phone and click the QR code symbol that will appear on the screen, which takes you to the PayPal app where you can sign in to your account and pay. Please contact Dave Butcher Photography, before you use it, to confirm the price of your special purchase.
Due to varying exchange rates, all prices on the website are listed in UK pounds sterling. Payment is usually taken in UK Pounds but if you would like to pay in Euros or US Dollars we can calculate the currency conversion at the time of booking and send you an invoice with a PayPal payment link in the alternative currency. If paying in UK Pounds from a country outside the UK, the amount charged to your card will depend on the actual exchange rate in force when the payment goes through. Dave Butcher Photography reserve the right to refuse orders without explanation.
Credit Card Security
We take online security seriously and use PayPal to provide a secure environment in which you can enter your credit card details securely.
The PayPal secure server is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL), the industry standard encryption technology. SSL works with Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, AOL, Opera, Safari and other browsers. Your card details remain with PayPal alone, at no time will they pass this sensitive information to Dave Butcher Photography, or to anyone else.

If you do not wish to pay using the PayPal secure web payment system then in the UK you can pay by BACS bank transfer. We can provide our bank account details to you.

As a visitor to the website, you are not required to provide any personal information to Dave Butcher Photography. If you purchase an item from the website, you will be asked to complete an online form and provide information about yourself.
The information Dave Butcher Photography collects about you is used to record and support your purchase of products from us. We also use your email, where you have given permission for us to use it, to keep you informed about news, promotions and other products and services supplied by Dave Butcher Photography. If an email address in supplied with ordering details you will receive an email confirmation of your order. You also have the option to receive a newsletter at intervals of up to once a month. Should you wish to be removed from the distribution list for this you can unsubscribe at any time, including during the ordering process, and you will receive no further email communications from us other than those related to the delivery of your order. For information, the only database of customer information that we hold is for the email newsletter on Mailchimp and it comprises name and email only.

Fine Art Photographs Product Availability and Delivery Times
Dave Butcher Photography has an extensive product range. It is not possible to keep every image in stock in every size. It is the intention to despatch any photograph within 2 weeks of receiving an order but may take up to 4 weeks. This may be extended during periods of unusually high workload or due to photographic trips since all photographs are hand printed exclusively by Dave Butcher. Prints that are in stock will usually be despatched within a few days of receiving an order. In the rare event of a problem with availability of a product, we will contact you. You may then wish to cancel the order or wait until the item becomes available.
Books and gift vouchers are always in stock and are usually despatched within 2 to 4 days.
Please let us know if you are ordering at short notice for specific dates, such as birthdays or anniversaries, we will always try and meet these although at busy periods, such as Christmas, and while we are away on extended photo trips (up to 3 weeks at a time) this may not always be possible.
All UK orders are shipped without extra cost.
Orders outside the UK are shipped for a fixed fee, currently £25. We ship to most countries worldwide as long as the order comes through our official order processing system and payment has been made. The parcel will be marked as a commercial shipment with the value quoted on it being the price that you paid including shipping cost; you are responsible for any import duties and other fees your country may impose.
Books and small prints are supplied in special book mailing envelopes.
Photographs are supplied flat, unless specifically requested otherwise, and are usually shipped between sheets of rigid mdf board.
Photographs of 60 x 25cm and larger are usually shipped using a courier such as UPS, DHL, Fedex, etc.
Special order prints over 60cm up to 120cm are shipped rolled-up in a postal tube. We do not supply prints larger than 120cm.
Product Representation On This Web Site
The images displayed on this web site are representative of the final prints that are sold. They are digital representations of fine art prints from a negative scan followed by editing in Photoshop image editing software.
Prints sold are made using Ilford traditional silver-based light-sensitive materials. The web images will differ, sometimes significantly, to the final print. For example, details in the shadows and bright areas, as well as contrast, can be expected to be considerably improved on the final photograph than for the images shown on this web site. Since every Original or Limited Edition print is individually manipulated in the darkroom each print will differ slightly from another, usually imperceptibly but sometimes noticeably. However, you are buying a Dave Butcher Original print and if you are not satisfied with the print that you receive a full refund is available, see Your Rights section above. Different formats require slightly different cropping of the image to fit the shape of the paper. Prints supplied may differ around the edges of the image compared to the representation shown on this web site.
Supply of Unmounted Prints
We do not supply unmounted prints. Unmounted photographs (Original and Limited Edition Prints) are easily damaged and require great care in mounting. Dave Butcher Photography accepts no responsibility for any damage caused during the handling and mounting of a print supplied unmounted.
Gift vouchers are available for specific values and can be purchased through this website.
Our gift vouchers can be used as complete or part-payment for any purchase from Dave Butcher Photography, including courses.
Gift Voucher Expiry Date and Refunds
The expiry date for all Gift Vouchers is currently 31st December 2023.
No refunds are given for part or the whole value of a gift voucher. If the value of the item purchased is less than the value of the gift voucher the remainder of the value of the gift value is forfeit upon first redemption. In other words a gift voucher can only be used once but it can be used for multiple products if they are all purchased at the same time.
Gift vouchers can be redeemed through the shopping cart system of this website. Just type the voucher code number into the box at checkout and the voucher value will be applied to the total value of your shopping cart. If the voucher value is the the same as the total order value there will be nothing to pay. If the total order value is greater than the voucher value you will need to pay the difference.
Terms and Conditions for Courses
Booking within 3 months of the start date of a course: the full amount is payable at time of booking. Bookings made in excess of 3 months from the date of a course: the full amount or a deposit of 50% may be paid; any balance payment becomes due 3 months before the date of the course.
We strongly recommend that the cost of your course is covered by travel insurance in case of illness, injury or any other reason for cancellation at short notice. The insurance should also cover personal accident and injury and loss of income due to incapacity. Our landscape locations are often wet and slippery underfoot and a fall under such conditions can be painful and lead to injury. Cameras and associated equipment (such as computers) are easily damaged so we advise you to take out insurance against damage or loss. Dave Butcher Photography accepts no responsibility or liability for damage or loss to any person or equipment on any course however caused.
Dave Butcher Photography reserves the right to cancel any workshop. In the rare event of a cancellation you will be offered the choice of an alternative date or a full refund of the course fee.
Private tuition can be rescheduled at short notice before the course start date but costs incurred, such as accommodation costs booked and paid for by Dave Butcher Photography but not refunded by the accommodation provider, must be paid by the client as well as the additional costs of the rearranged course. Private Darkroom and Private Peak District Photography courses can be rescheduled at short notice before the course start date with no additional cost.
All of our landscape photography and darkroom workshops are private tuition only. We no longer run courses where we set the date and advertise individual places.
There are a maximum of 2 places on Dave Butcher Darkroom courses because of space restrictions and tuition quality as numbers increase.
Landscape photography courses are usually run with up to 3 clients using our car. We can run courses with up to 5 clients in total, if agreed in advance with Dave Butcher Photography and a client is willing to use their own vehicle.
Health and Fitness for Courses
Dave Butcher Landscape Photography courses require participants to be able to walk 3 or 4 miles (in total during the day) along rough undulating paths (paths go uphill as well as downhill!), in possibly inclement weather. This is clearly stated at the time of booking and in the course information supplied upon confirmation. We offer help to clients as much as possible to make their course enjoyable but if basic health and fitness is insufficient Dave Butcher Photography accepts no claims for refunds in full or part from clients who find difficulty in walking with their equipment in such terrain. The term ‘basic health’ includes illness which impairs physical ability. It is the responsibility of the client to inform Dave Butcher Photography at the time of booking on a course about any health or medical condition that could be a concern during the course. If you have medical concerns please discuss them with Dave or Jan Butcher and we will try and tailor a course to your needs. We offer private tuition so that courses can be adapted to how you are feeling throughout the day.
If we change our Terms & Conditions, we will post those changes on this page so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we disclose it.
